Different Types Of Anime Reviewer

By Jaclyn Hurley

The problem with watching Japanese animated television series and films is that there are a lot of them. People will often say that they cannot believe you did not see numerous titles that they say are better than the rest. However if you are relatively new to the genre it is not always easy to tell what type of title you will personally like. That is why you should look up an anime reviewer to help guide you through the various options available.

Different people have different notions of what the term refers to. Some will associate it with very adult material. While it is true that there are adult titles available it should be said that this is just one type of title and if you do not want to watch that kind of material then it can be easily avoided.

The origin of this particular style can be traced back to World War 2. During this time the arrival of American soldiers also saw the arrival of American comic books, cartoons and movies. Inevitably these comic books, cartoons and movies would go on to influence Japanese artists.

However in recent years the influence has gone the other way. An excellent example of this is the Matrix trilogy. The philosophical musings of the nature of reality can be traced back to dystopian movies such as Akira and Ghost In The Shell. Indeed many people argue that Ghost In The Shell is especially influential on The Matrix and without that the trilogy would not have existed.

There is also the misconception that anime is more adult than Disney or other styles of animated movie. This does not necessarily have to be the case. While some may argue there are dark elements in films such as Spirited Away it can be easy to forget that films such as Pinocchio and The Lion King were not afraid to explore difficult emotions and some disturbing images.

Many animated television shows have come from Japan as well. The most well known are titles such as Sailor Moon and Pokemon. While a lot of these shows get translated into English a lot of purists would argue that the dubs can often lose elements of plot and characters from the original Japanese version.

However for people this can be overwhelming. Furthermore you may not have time to read through lots of reviews. A better approach can be to look for videos made by fans of Japanese animation. Some will be serious and focus on reviewing the titles while others will be more light hearted and poke fun at the genre.

You can find out more about different anime review shows by checking online. A quick search using your search engine ought to bring up a number of different results. It is also worth checking for feedback from other anime fans to see what shows and sites they would recommend to help you find the titles you will want to watch!
