The Life Of Alexander Koleszar

By Krystal Branch

Alexander Koleszar is one of the most famous modern artists in the whole United States of America as his works have a unique and surrealistic style to them that may capture the eyes of the audience. His art style is definitely very different from other artists because he combines elements of abstract art, realism, and surrealism. This is actually what made him quite famous in the world of painting.

Now this man grew up in Michigan which is somewhat outside of Detroit. He grew up in a town wherein the men were big and rough which was quite a tough environment for an introvert like him to grow up in. As he was an artist and an introvert, he was often ridiculed because his peers did not see him as a man.

Even though he had quite a sad childhood, he used that set of strong emotions to pursue his career in painting. At the age of fourteen, he was able to make around thirteen artworks wherein some were actually showcased in his school. Three of them were even hung up in the city hall as they were amazingly attractive.

At the age of twenty two, he could not take the ridicule and drama about being a homosexual anymore which is why he decided to leave. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he cleared his head and became more open about being a gay man. It is also here that he went to the University of Arizona and took up a degree in arts which was followed by another one in geosciences.

Now for him to become famous, he created four sets of paintings that became really popular in the field of art. One of his first sets which was the set that showcased only portraits of people. If one would look at these portraits from afar, he would think that these paintings are photographs but if he looked closer, he would see that they are not.

Another set which was named Addiction and Recovery was one of the sets created when he was going through depression in his life. This set concentrated on surrealism and showed all kinds of images that depicted things that were evidently not of this world. His imagination in this set is what made it quite known.

Life on Lifes Terms which was another set concentrated more on abstract paintings as he wanted to branch out his style. Even if one could see his surrealistic style even in the abstract paintings, it still looked really unique and beautiful. Of course other paintings in this set showcased still life in a surrealistic style like flowers and such.

The last set of Alexander Koleszar, which was named, Just My Opinion, concentrated on the painting of scenery. What makes this different from the other sets is that majority of the paintings here depicted naked men in them along with the scenery. This is where he was expressing his own opinion about life itself and how the society tries to control the people that are living in it telling them how they should act and such.
